HOW DID WE GET STARTED?

During January 2015, Toronto’s “cold weather plan” was under scrutiny due to the death of two homeless men whom were not provided the essentials required for survival in these frigid winter temperatures. After identifying this issue, Founder Omar Salama compiled together several friends to solve this issue. Keep Toronto Warm was created to provide homeless citizens with warm socks and blankets around downtown Toronto.

WHY DO WE EXIST?

The reason for our existence is simple; we’re here to keep Toronto warm. Over the years, Toronto has suffered from extreme cold temperatures which have progressively reached conditions unbearable for the average Torontonian to comfortably walk in. The streets of downtown Toronto are surrounded by homeless citizens who lack the basic necessities required for survival in these harsh temperatures. Our organization seeks to combat this issue through providing blankets and socks to homeless citizens of downtown Toronto.
